You don’t need to marinate higher quality meat.
Its flavour should be the centrepiece of your meal.
Condiments, sauces, pastes and drinks should be used as dipping sauces. They accompany the meal.
Before your next big BBQ, experiment with these key items – and create a meal that no-one will forget.
Soy sauce
It’s a perfect accompaniment to your rib. It’s salty flavours contrast the meaty taste of the beef.
Try mixing the soy with sake, Mirin, bonito flakes and a piece of kombu for tosa joyu, a special dipping sauce.

Sesame oil
A light, subtle flavour that cuts through effortlessly. Enjoy on its own afterwards or during cooking.
Garlic
A simple condiment combining nicely with rosemary and onions.
Korean red chilli paste
Add a touch of spice with your piece of Japanese Wagyu rib.
Sugar
The sweetness of the sugar enriches the already velvety flavours of the beef. Again, try dipping and taste the difference.
Mirin
A sweet, slightly tangy rice wine. Pairs well with soy sauce, or enjoy on its own.
Sake
An excellent pairing for Wagyu beef. Adds a touch of luxury to your meal.
